our story
In loving memory of my mother – Dr. Gita Soman
Devastated in losing my mom to Cancer in June 2020, I had the unfortunate yet humbling experience of watching my mom slip into intense depression during the last 8 months of her life. What compounded this humbling experience was that mom, a Doctor and Pediatrician, had once worked in a well-known Cancer Hospital in Chennai and had helped cure 1000s of children from this debilitating disease. Hence, Cancer was not new to her. A strong woman of substance, my rock, and the iron pillar of support for our family, she was a warrior and had bravely fought Cancer the first time it occurred.
She was so proactive that I hardly even knew she had it till she had her surgery, and the doctor treating her informed me that we had caught it early. Her emotional resilience in the realization that, she had the power to take action without letting her family members take the stress, just because we were unaware of this disease was so evident. Radiation thereafter weakened her health over the years, and when the relapse occurred in late 2019, she knew this would be her last journey. She increasingly fell silent over the last few months of her life and refused to articulate her emotions because she didn’t want to see us suffer! The experience of watching her slip away slowly and the deep depression that I experienced after her loss gave me a new purpose to take action and normalize conversations around mental health, to empower people to take action against any form of discrimination irrespective of gender, sexuality, background, ethnicity, culture, education and abilities. In short, de-stigmatize the world we live in.

our vision
Mission Humanity!
Where one day, we will be in a world where everyone feels included,
Where empathy is no longer a privilege, but a core value,
Where it won’t matter what background, ethnicity, religion, or race you come from,
What your physical or intellectual abilities are,
What your gender or sexuality is,
Where education means being emotionally intelligent and intellectually adaptive to peacefully co-exist and make this world a better place to live in.
